BBC Radio Lancashire Interview – December

by Russ on December 11, 2013

This month we surprised BBC Lancashire’s Carole Turner by bringing in one of the most Christmasy plants there is – Mistletoe! We also talk about December fungi, white berries and night-time walking.

Part 1

Part 2

Although rare in the wild, you can attempt to grow your own mistletoe by rubbing it’s berries into the nooks and crannies of your garden trees. Mistletoe especially favours apples, hawthorn and poplar trees.

Dangers of the Waterways…

The Pike has a wide diet, including smaller fish and birds! This week, Bernie has sent in this fantastic shot of a freshly caught Pike! This top predator is rarely seen due to it’s brilliant camouflage. Happily, this impressive fish was returned to his watery home shortly after this photo was taken.
