The natural world that still surrounds us today is full of mystery, intrigue and amazement. We witness this in our living rooms through documentaries and maybe on holiday too. But you don’t have to travel far to find fantastic beasts.
Nature Talks and Walks was set up to showcase the captivating world of animals, plants and fungi that share our homes. In particular, the theme of our events is ‘Biodiversity’, which is the number of different species you can find in a single area and how they all interact and rely with each other.
With such an astonishing variety of life (63,000 species in the UK alone) there is never a dull moment and always something new to learn.
Our wildlife events are extra special because of the shear diversity of wild species we can identify. This means you too can witness everything from scorpionflies and banded demoiselles to short-eared owls and natterjack toads.
Through our mixture of services, we ensure that wildlife is accessible to anyone and everyone
By providing a variety of wildlife events across the UK, we hope to demonstrate just how charismatic, fascinating and important these creatures are.
Who leads the events?
Russell Hedley has been working in education for over a decade and has a love and passion for wildlife that stretches as far back as he can remember. He leads the events at Nature Talks and Walks and hopes to aid conservation efforts by making the natural world accessible to one and all.
“I’ve been fascinated by wildlife for as long as I can remember. From exploring my childhood garden through to giving the talks at Blackpool Zoo, my passion has developed from a general interest to my sole occupation.”
“No matter what the species, there’s always something new and surprising to learn about British wildlife.”
By setting up Nature Talks and Walks, I aim to:
- Create a friendly, knowledgeable and professional environment where both children and adults can learn about British Wildlife
- Offer a thorough range of topics that cover all aspects of the Science Curriculum for Key Stage 1 & 2
- Increase local awareness of conservation and natural issues and assist conservation projects
Where are our events held?
Nature Talks and Walks is a mobile service, we will come to you! Based in Bolton, we travel right across the North West with our work.
Throughout Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester we’ll travel to you for our wildlife walks and nature presentations.
Both our Wildlife Holiday Tours and Training Days go further afield and cover the rest of the UK as well. Our availability means that our events can showcase some of the best and rarest wildlife in the UK.
For our presentations, we’ll bring all the kit we need (projector, laptop, screen). All we’ll need is a table to rest things on and your group can be spirited away to a fantastic world filled to the brim with nature.
