Case Study: Kim Inspire

By Russ Leave a Comment

Last autumn we worked with KIM Inspire to deliver some digital wildlife walks. During the 2020 lockdowns, it has never been more important to stay connected to other people. Our wildlife sessions helped bring people together whilst they also gained new knowledge about British wildlife.

What is KIM Inspire?

KIM Inspire is an award-winning charity that provides professional, high quality mental health support and recovery in the community.

KIM sessions are friendly, fun and are always focused on individual development and progression. They cover a wide range of subjects, which is where we came in.

What did Nature Talks and Walks offer?

We ran two sessions for KIM Inspire, one on the snakes of the UK and one of rare British mammals.

The water vole has been incline in decades now with only around 875,000 left

The sessions were designed to encourage questions, discussion and a sense of community. They also offered something a bit different for the guests.

The topics were chosen by Dave Wall from a long list of potential wildlife topics such as:

• Birdsong
• Wildflowers
• Frogs and Toads of the UK
• Wildlife of the Wood

What did the guests think?

Alison Brooks came to both digital wildlife sessions. Here’s what she thought:

“Thank you for arranging for Russ to do such interesting presentations about native British wildlife on the past 2 Fridays. I’ve really enjoyed them, even if snakes still give me the creeps! See you next Friday.“

The adder is the only venomous snake in the UK
