Do Bullfinches Mate for Life?

By Russ Leave a Comment

The Bullfinch is a truly stunning bird! With it’s bulky shape, large bill, black cap and vivid pink chest on the male it’s always a pleasure to spot on the bird table. They are one of the few garden bird species to normally be seen in pairs, which raises the question does this bird mate for life? It is commonly agreed that the Bullfinch does indeed keep the same partner year on year. The pair stays together throughout the winter and can often be spotted visiting feeders together. This little ‘English love-bird’ is not an uncommon sight but can require patience, commitment and lots of Sunflower Hearts to attract in.

Don’t forget…
